Arts Scene: Tulsa museums to host major shows featuring Indigenous women artists

The work of Tulsa artist Shan Goshorn, who died in December 2018, will be featured in an exhibit opening in October at Gilcrease Museum. The National Endowment for the Arts recently presented the museum with a $40,000 grant to help present the exhibit, which features Goshorn’s unique basketry. Tulsa’s two major museums next month will present major exhibitions of works by Indigenous women artists.

The Philbrook Museum of Art, 2727 S. Rockford Road, will open “Hearts of Our People: Native Women Artists,” the first major traveling exhibition exclusively devoted to native women artists, Oct. 7.
