San Antonio Museum of Art reopens, renames Latin American folk art gallery, which had been closed for three years

“Skeleton Street Vendor,” a 1965 papier-mache piece by Miguel Linares, can be seen in the Latin American Popular Art Gallery at the San Antonio Museum of Art. Lucía Abramovich can finally check off the first task she was given when she started work as associate curator of Latin American art at the San Antonio Museum of Art in June of 2019: Reinstall what was then known as the Latin American Folk Art Gallery.

She’s looking forward to sharing her handiwork with museum visitors. The gallery opens to the public Saturday.
